Description
A semi-dwarf selection perfect for smaller garden spaces and containers, the Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar features dense, icy blue foliage on a compact form with architectural, irregular branching and foliage contrast that provides outstanding year-round interest in the landscape. This one grows to only 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide in 10 years. A truly magnificent and eye-catching small coniferous evergreen with character prefect for display around patios and other outdoor living spaces!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 8 to 10 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide in 10 years, the Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar is ideal for use as a focal point specimen or in groupings in sunny landscape borders and home foundation plantings, where it can serve to frame corners or against a windowless wall. Its smaller size and slow growth rate makes it a perfect candidate for containers. A fine addition to rock gardens, conifer gardens, blue the4me gardens, wildlife gardens, and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Growing Preferences
The Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar is very easy to grow in most any average soil that is well-drained and full to mostly sun. Standing water or constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. Maintenance is minimal with no pruning required. That said, lower branches can be removed for mower or other vehicle clearance, or so people can walk beneath the canopy. Exceptionally drought tolerant when established. We’ve seen no insect or disease problems.

I’m taking a gamble on a 1 gal plant. I’ll have to nurture it for a couple of years before planting where I want it reside.
would recommend that shipping boxes are clearly marked with ‘This end up”. my last two orders have been placed on my porch upside down.———————————-I’m almost positive that we mark the boxes….I cant speak for the carriers….so sorry if they were not handled with care, I’m so sorry.
